Healthcare utilization for mental health concerns has steadily risen over the past decade. Child life specialists providing services to these patients may wonder what is best practice? What is within the scope of care of a CLS? The medical model focuses on providing physical safety until transfer for acute mental health care can be arranged, often at the expense of the patient’s emotional state. This presentation will discuss assessment and interventions to promote positive coping.
