As Generation Z becomes the predominant demographic for child life learners, preceptors will benefit from examining their teaching methodologies to help ensure this newest generation of professionals are able to forge sustainable careers that reflect the values of the profession. In this presentation, participants will examine the impacts of cultural trends and the possibility of creating mutually beneficial, cross-generational learning relationships. Objectives:
Participants will be able to define the unique educational needs and values of Generation Z interns, including an exploration of the professional expectations and desires of this group in the workforce.
Utilizing a strengths-based approach, participants will be able to reflect on current precepting practices and consider how changes to the delivery and content of educational pedgagogy can best meet the current intern profile.
Participants will be able to identify strategies of how to cultivate intergenerational educational relationships, demonstrating an understanding of the impact these mentorships can have in fostering both parties' personal and professional skills.
