Dr. Kihm earned her undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University, Master's degree in Child Life from the University of Akron, and Doctorate in Human Ecology from Lousiana State University. She is currently a professor of Human Sciences at Southeastern Louisiana University and graduate coordinator of their Child Life master's program. She's held certification as a child life specialis for nearly 25 years. Dr. Kihm teaches a variety of both undergraduate and graduate courses on child life theory, child health psychology, child life administration, and research. She has published over 40 peer-reviewed papers and given numerous presentations at the international and national levels. She has been awarded her university president's award for excellence in research and her latest grant will support research and collaboration with area children's hospitals using virtual reality technologies and high fidelity robots. Dr. Kihm will be presenting research she conducted using the Buzzy pain management tool with college students receiving Covid-19 vaccines and boosters.
