Jessica Jenkins is a senior certified child life specialist and served as the initial lead clinican for the Patient and Family Life Specialty pilot program at Michigan Medicine’s Frankel Cardiovascular Center. Jess began her career in 2006 at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, worked at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, and joined Michigan Medicine in 2014. In addition to her clinical work, she has been involved in hospital-wide pain management initiatives and worked within multidisciplinary teams to advance patient education projects such as the creation of a preparing for surgery video available for widespread use. Preceding her work with the Patient and Family Life Specialty pilot, she served as the research project lead, providing non-pharmacological interventions to mitigate anxiety, manage pain, and support coping with adult cardiac surgical patients enrolled in a randomized, prospective clinical trial.
