Katy has been a Certified Child Life Specialist for seven years, most recently serving clinically in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN. Katy's interests and advocacy centers around infant mental health, non-pharmacological pain management/procedural support for infants, prenatal psychosocial support for parents and siblings in Maternal Fetal medicine, preterm developmental needs, and family-centered end-of-life care. Katy also has previous clinical experience in the emergency department and inpatient neurology at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN. She has served on many committees between both institutions including pediatric pain management initiatives, bereavement committees, and volunteer committees. Katy has been involved in several professional contributions to the child life community, most recently as a contributing author and researcher of the Child Life Value Proposition Statement (Boles et al, 2020). She is a former committee member of the ACLP Bulletin and is a gradute of Tennessee Tech University.
