Camryn graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelors Degree in Human Development and Family Sciences in 2021, after completing a yearlong internship at Children’s Hospital of Georgia in Augusta, GA. Camryn currently works at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) and provides child life services to patients and families on a medical/trauma/surgical unit. Camryn is a secondary facility dog handler to “Strider” a Goldendoodle from Canine Assistants. Camryn and Strider work together daily to help the patients on their unit cope and adjust to the various stressors of hospitalization.
Camryn has also been involved in CHOA summer camps for 5+ years even before becoming a CCLS. At camp, Camryn assists in providing child life services and logistic support to the CHOA Camp Programming teams. Camryn is passionate about the work she has done at Camp No Limb-itations, a camp that supports patients with limb deficiencies and amputations. During her time at camp, Camryn has been able to provide peer socialization, therapeutic activities and coping support for children who have had amputations or limb deficiencies.
