Jennifer Smith earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in child life from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL, and became a certified child life specialist in 2001. Jennifer completed her undergraduate internship at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN, and her graduate internship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN. She began her career as a child life specialist at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Phoenix, AZ in January 2001. She began working at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 2006 and has provided child life services for solid tumor, bone marrow transplant, and pediatric intensive care unit patients. Jennifer is currently a lead child life specialist and assists in providing child life services to patients undergoing treatment for brain tumors and solid tumors. She is a facility dog handler and a certified infant massage instructor (CIMI). Jennifer has 20 years of experience in the child life profession.
