Cara received her BS in Youth, Adult, and Family Services with a concentration in Child Health from Purdue University. She completed a child life internship at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge, IL and a child life fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH. Cara has worked in critical care for 15 years and has completed training and certification in trauma, trauma assessment, crisis intervention, crisis intervention instruction, compassion fatigue, and most recently as a clinical trauma and resilience practitioner. She currently serves as the Child Life Clinical Lead for the inpatient critical care units at Inova LJ Murphy Children’s Hospital (Falls Church, VA) and facilitates BRICKS [Building Resilience: Increasing Connection, Knowledge, & Sustainability] – a staff support program for the Child Life Department.
