Emily Freeborn has worked at Inova L.J. Murpy Children's Hospital for over 16 year. She received her BS in Human Development, Family Dynamics, and Societal Issues from Juniata College in Huntington, PA and her Masters in Public Health from Walden University. She completed her child life internship at Johns Hopkin’s Children Center and eared her child life certification in 2007. Emily is an adjunct professor at George Mason University. Emily currently serves as the inpatient clinical lead, clinical internship co-coordinator of an accredited child life internship program, and volunteer co-coordinator. As a clinical lead, Emily facilitates Reflective Practice/Clinical Supervision and collaborates with the department director and respective clinical leads to support the resiliency of the child life team through implementing programming and opportunities for connection and support. Emily is an experienced presenter facilitating two training series at L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital: Supporting Patients with Autism and Sensory Processing Disorders and The Biopsychosocial Model in Action: How to Use it to Make Things Less Painful for Everyone. In addition to these ongoing trainings Emily has presented numerous presentations at the local, regional, and national levels.
