Child Life Coordinator
Children's of Alabama
Crane Hill, Alabama, United States
I have worked as a Certified Child Life Specialist at Children’s of Alabama for 10 years. In 2016 I joined a multidisciplinary team to develop the Sensory Pathway, a patient initiative that focuses on removing barriers to medical assessment, treatment, and positive care experiences for patients with sensory processing challenges. I have remained heavily involved in the development, implementation, and training of this pathway over the years. In 2020 I took on the role of Sensory Pathway Coordinator. The following year in 2021 I obtained my Autism Certification through the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) and in 2023 I gained my Certified Autism Specialist (CAS) credential. I have been involved in published research pertaining to the Sensory Pathway at Children’s of Alabama and presented at two national level conferences on this topic including the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) National Conference in 2017 and the NRC Pediatric Collaborative in 2022.
