Kelsey has been a Certified Child Life Specialist since 2013, and has experience working in two separate level 1 trauma pediatric hospitals over the past nine years. In addition to Kelsey’s eight years in the emergency department at Children’s Health, she has worked at Children’s Hospital of Colorado. At both institutions Kelsey played an integral role in expanding child life services, including adding child life positions and coverage hours. Kelsey’s work with the behavioral health population has evolved over the years to best meet the ever-changing needs of this population. Along with direct patient care, Kelsey also frequently collaborates with the hospital’s psychiatry consult team, and provides education to ED staff re: developmental support for behavioral health patients. In addition to her clinical role, Kelsey serves as a mentor to new child life specialists and is an active member of child life, ED and ACLP committees. Kelsey is a passionate advocate for the unique needs of the behavioral health ED population and has experience presenting to other hospital staff, outside organizations, and local college classes.
