Intervention

Integrating the Universal Power of Music in Family-centered Care Practices

This workshop will educate attendees about the power of music in supporting the well-being of pediatric patients and the patient-centered work of child life specialists. Attendees will be able to experience the power of music themselves through direct engagement with musical activities and understand how it can be applied in the healthcare environment. Attendees will also learn evidence-based methods for assessing the impact of such programming and how that data can support their work with patients. DOMAIN: Intervention

Objectives:

  • Attendees will expand their understanding of the positive and measurable benefits of music for youth in hospital, as well as their caregivers, families, and the hospital staff, through the delivery of arts in health music programming.
  • Experience the multiple ways in which music can be accessed and enjoyed within the pediatric hospital environment and supplement the work of Creative Arts services to enhance hospital special events.
  • Understand how to integrate digital music into pediatric healthcare for all patients while sharing tailored options available to accommodate hospital technology and resources to ensure equity of service.
