When the Word “Emotion” Doesn’t Exist- A Multi-Pronged Approach to Creating Emotional Safety for Vulnerable Children in Africa in a Community-Based Nonprofit Setting
This presentation details one child life specialist’s multi-pronged approach to improving emotional safety for 14,000 vulnerable children in [AFRICAN COUNTRY] through capacity-building and the implementation of culturally sensitive psychosocial programming in both healthcare and school-based settings. The presentation emphasizes the importance of communication and collaboration with local staff, identification of social determinants of health and cultural considerations, capacity building, sustainability, and monitoring and evaluation.
