Child life professionals are aware of the risks a procedural setting poses to a pediatric patient’s emotional safety. Timing and medical needs are prioritized in the procedural setting. Often signs of a patient's emotional distress are missed by healthcare team members. This presentation will describe the journey of this child life team in training staff to reduce traumatic stress in a pediatric procedural setting.

Objectives:
Upon completion, participant will be able to define traumatic stress and discuss exposure to trauma in pediatric procedural settings.
Upon completion, participant will be able to recognize the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration to improve pediatric patient compliance in procedural settings without coercion.
Upon completion, participant will be able to describe the development of a screening tool that staff at this hospital utilize in identifying risk for traumatic stress in a procedural setting.
Participants will be able to summarize the educational modules provided to multidisciplinary staff at this hospital to better familiarize them with the concept of trauma, emotional safety, and signs of positive coping.
